Ophthalmic Technician provides technical services to assigned ophthalmic patients and assists ophthalmologists or optometrists in the examination and treatment of eye disorders. Takes patient history, conducts visual acuity screenings, and performs various technical procedures, including refractometry, tonometry, lensometry, and keratometry. Being an Ophthalmic Technician prepares patients for exams and procedures. Operates, maintains, and sanitizes ophthalmic equipment and instruments. Additionally, Ophthalmic Technician may assist physicians in performing minor surgical and laser procedures. May dispense contact lenses. Typically requires an associate degree. May require Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA). May require Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT). Typically reports to a manager. Ophthalmic Technician
We are seeking full time Ophthalmic Technicians. Certification is preferred but not required. Candidates must be proficient in refracting, pachymetry, use of slit lamp, and accurate chart documentation of measurements, ancillary tests, and patient medical history. Experience with OCT and photography a plus. Ophthalmic Technician must have the ability to interact with all patients using the level of respect and professionalism required by the practice, as well as the following:
