Ophthalmic Technician provides technical services to assigned ophthalmic patients and assists ophthalmologists or optometrists in the examination and treatment of eye disorders. Takes patient history, conducts visual acuity screenings, and performs various technical procedures, including refractometry, tonometry, lensometry, and keratometry. Being an Ophthalmic Technician prepares patients for exams and procedures. Operates, maintains, and sanitizes ophthalmic equipment and instruments. Additionally, Ophthalmic Technician may assist physicians in performing minor surgical and laser procedures. May dispense contact lenses. Typically requires an associate degree. May require Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA). May require Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT). Typically reports to a manager.   • We are seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Technician for our multi-physician, sub-specialty practice. Work schedule is Monday-Friday, no weekends. Some day travel to our other offices is required. Job responsibilities include: patient work-up, assist in surgery, phone triage, special testing, scribing, and instrument cleaning. Certification encouraged but not required. The candidate must have previous experience in an ophthalmology or optometry practice and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, team environment.
