VACANCY: The Valley View Public School District is seeking an individual to fill a full-time Administrative Computing Operations Manager position.
JOB SUMMARY: As a member of the Technology Services Department of Valley View School District, work under the general direction of the Executive & Assistant Executive Directors of Technology.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lead the Administrative Computing Operations Team by serving as management leader and project manager for all updates, upgrades, changes and problem resolution for the institution’s Student Information System (Infinite Campus) and other enterprise applications.
- Act as the District Information Systems leader and liaison between business and instructional departments to evaluate data requirements needed to implement, support, enhance and maintain all district information systems associated applications and hardware
- Coach, mentor, motivate, train, professionally develop and supervise Administrative Computing Operations team members and vendors, to ensure the successful completion of daily work and projects involving the design, development, administration, and operation of School Information Systems, functions and programs; and the design and development of new or enhanced associated applications and hardware
- Direct the creation and support of sound database design for administrative systems; departmental policies and procedures; and security considerations for administrative computing.
- Direct the research, analysis, design, planning and testing for enhancements to existing, revised and new administrative application hardware and software. Communicates the need for these enhancements to supervisor and appropriate administrators. As well as communicate changes with end users.
- Directs the design, development, testing, implementation, and support customized reports, using Microsoft SQL Reporting Services, Microsoft Visual Studio and Microsoft Excel, integrating data from district information systems, including Infinite Campus, with multiple sources, as well as the maintenance of SQL scripts meant to analyze data integrity, export data, or to populate data fields depending on relationships to other data within the system
- Ensures the Student Information System operates in a secure manner, operates on a current versioning to meet the needs of the organization and enhancements and updates are implemented in a timely manner.
- Maintains documentation and change management system for customization of the Student Information System.
- Oversees the maintenance and creation of communication, documentation, training materials and training tasks as well as change management system for all aspects of the Student Information System
- As a member of the Department’s Leadership team participate in setting departmental goals to support the District’s Strategic Plan. Participate in the creation of training and professional development activities, monitoring and reporting of the progress in completing goals.
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure data is accurate and available to meet state and federal reporting requirements and statistical reporting needs.
- Actively seek ways to avoid emergency situations by ensuring systems are securely and prudently managed to ensure desired system uptime metrics are achieved.
- Prepare and submit annual budgetary needs. Monitor cost to ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines
- Perform other job duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Duties require knowledge comparable to a Bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology.
- Duties require a minimum three years’ experience in System Application Support or Information System Management that includes systems development life cycle, including requirements gathering, analysis, functional and technical design, database and file design, construction, testing, implementation, documentation and support A combination of experience and education equating to 7 years of history in IT is preferred.
- Duties require knowledge of Infinite Campus Student Information System or similar SIS System.
- Preference will be given to candidates with at least 3 years of working experience in a secondary, or higher, educational environment.
- Must be a team player.
- Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate the needs of the business to the utilization of the software.
- At least three years of work experience supervising staff preferred.
- Must be a self-starter with ability to prioritize and juggle multiple activities and projects of yourself and your team.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal as well as technical and non-technical communication skills).

- Ability to work a flexible schedule; with the potential to either five (5) eight (8) hour days or four (4) ten (10) hour days with a potential start time between 6 am and 9 am
- Ability to perform active field work, including lifting up to thirty pounds and other physical activities.
- Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends a plus
- Valid driver’s license with own vehicle as this position has the potential for the staff member to drive between District locations throughout Bolingbrook and Romeoville on a daily basis; work locations vary and can change on a daily basis.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The work year for this position is 12 months. The salary is based on market and district comparisons as determined by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
