GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Operations Tech Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of the operational team in a fast-paced production environment. This role ensures efficient and safe operations while maintaining product quality and meeting production targets. The incumbent will supervise and lead a team of scales operators, indexers, VFFS baggers, metal detectors, case coding specialists, and labelers.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
- Provide leadership and guidance to the operational team, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure proper PM’s are set and followed for all scales, indexers, VFFS, metal detectors, case packers, and case coders.
- Root Cause analytics are essential to ensure issues solve the right problem the first time.
- Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards, production schedules, and efficiency targets.
- Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for team members.
- Implement and enforce quality control measures throughout the production process, including inspection procedures and corrective actions. Specifically, correct bag/clamshell formations, metal detector and scale accuracy
- Coordinate maintenance activities with the maintenance team to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures, conducting regular safety inspections and promoting a safe work environment.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Identify and address operational issues promptly, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Foster effective communication within the team and across departments, sharing production updates, goals, and best practices.
- Performance all Preventative Maintenance as scheduled
- Lead or support root cause projects as directed by the Maintenance Manager
Required Skills
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a technical field and a Bachelor’s degree, or 3-5 years of maintenance experience in a technical field for candidates without a Bachelor’s degree.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with focus on delivering excellent customer service.
- Metal Detection: Knowledgeable in operating metal detection equipment to ensure product safety and compliance with quality standards.
- Case Coding: Familiarity with case coding systems and procedures for accurate labeling and tracking of products.
- RTE Labeling: Proficient in operating Ready-to-Eat (RTE) labeling equipment to apply accurate and compliant labels to products.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, talk or hear to communicate, as well as maneuver around an array of equipment, bend, stoop and climb stairs. The employee must occasionally lift (including overhead) and/or up to 50 lbs.
- Must have the ability to maneuver around an array of equipment. Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, climb ladders and/or stairs. Will have some exposure to fumes and airborne particles. Must be able to work in a cold environment.
WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Flexibility to work varied hours required, including weekends and holidays. Must be on call via cell phone in off-hours. Need to be able to assist in problem solving beyond normal business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

PAY RATE:
- $85,000 - $93,000 Annually
