Job Description :
The Warranty (HSV) Specialist performs analysis of field claim data and issues warranty statements based on Warranty Policies and Procedures.
This role advises on various subjects related to warranty claims to internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
The position supports inquiries from suppliers, answering incoming phone calls, and responds to emails from suppliers and other stakeholders.
This position will decide where to apply the allocation of burden, issue monthly warranty expense statements, and calculate allocation of burden by collecting parts.
The specialist will also handle supplier's objections and liquidations, request and oversee investigations on impacted parts and negotiate burden of allocation based on investigation with supplier.
Once all investigations are complete, the specialist will compile and analyze all warranty data for reporting purposes.
Major Areas of Responsibility (MAR) :
Warranty Statement and Financials - 35%
- Issue warranty statements to suppliers according to defined procedure.
- Communicate financial details with MNAO's Purchasing and Finance Teams.
- Review investigation results and adjust statements as needed.
- Adjust the allocation of burden (responsibility shared ratio) if the investigation results indicate higher or lower supplier responsibilities than the initially agreed allocation.
- Ensure alignment of warranty program aligns with Mazda's Global Warranty System; provide feedback in areas needing improvement.
- Provide warranty claim data to various business units, as needed, to support their business activity, warranty cost reduction efforts and other department projects.
- Analyze warranty claims to decrease rejected claims, decrease time for supplier claim payment and increase cash flow to MNAO's Warranty Team.
Agreements and Negotiations - 20%
- Renew supplier's warranty agreements every two years.
- Adjust allocation of burden (responsibility shared ratio) as needed in relation to supplier's warranty agreements.
- Mediate and negotiate discussions between the Supplier Quality Assurance Team and the supplier to determine allocation of responsibilities.
Parts Investigation - 35%
- Respond to supplier's inquiries and parts investigation requests.
- Collaborate with the Supplier Quality Assurance Team to investigate and identify root cause of field claim.
- Review and process parts collection requests from suppliers and arrange parts return.
- Arrange investigation of parts with Quality Engineers and suppliers.
- Arrange supplier to collect parts for detailed and specialized analysis.
Documentation - 10%
Document investigation results, responsibilities decisions, and
issue reports of the findings.
Create and maintain documentation pertaining to warranty
duties and develop written processes / procedures.
Qualifications and Other Requirements :
Required Experience :
- 2 years' experience in manufacturing
- 1 year of technical experience with automotive systems / parts, warranty.
- Experience reading and writing technical reports.
Education (Minimum) :
High school diploma required or equivalent combination of education, training and / or work in lieu of diploma. Associate's degree preferred.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities :
- Basic understanding of financial analysis methods and reporting formats.
- Basic analytic skills, including an understanding of statistics Database skills such as Access, Mini-tab and / or Business Objects.
- Microsoft Office proficiency, good data entry / keyboard skill.
- Technical training and presentation skills.
- Effective communication, both written and verbal.
- Analytical and conceptual thinking using logic, reason, creative and strategic thinking.
- Organized to complete tasks in accordance with established standards and deadlines.
- High degree of organization, attention to detail, follow-up, and time-management skills.
- Strong negotiation skills and interpersonal skills.
- Bilingual (English / Japanese or English / Spanish) preferred.
