Operations Section Manager manages and directs the daily activities of multiple operations functions. POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Lead Blademan, the Section Patrolman is a non-exempt position under FLSA. This position may perform construction and/or maintenance on designated districts of gravel and dirt roads to a level that is safe for the driving public, ensure proper drainage of said roads, and to perform grass, weed and brush control within their designated district. This employee assists in snow and ice removal during inclement weather.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (required):
1. Operates motor grader, loader, dump trucks, and other equipment to maintain the quality of the roads;
2. Regular and predictable attendance required;
3. Maintains drainage of roads and creates new drainage as needed;
4. Performs necessary repairs to roads, ditches and culverts;
5. Allocates rock within district;
6. Provides snow and ice removal during inclement weather;
7. Installs drainage structures;
8. Performs mowing duties and cuts brush and trees in district;
9. Installs culverts and entrances;
10. Maintains daily labor and equipment records;
11. Performs maintenance and repairs on assigned equipment;
12. Reports problems, road hazards, and sign damage in district;
13. Reports equipment problems to the shop;
14. Maintains a safe work site;
15. Ensures positive public relations with public and staff;
16. Works with public to explain project details, answer questions, provide timelines for completion;
17. Must have (or obtain within 60 days of employment) and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with appropriate endorsements.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
A high school diploma, GED or equivalent, or graduation from a vocational school is preferred. One to three years of similar or related experience is recommended. Employee is expected to have acquired the necessary information and skills to perform the job reasonably well within six months to one year of employment.

Must have and maintain a clean driving record for this position. A “clean” record is defined as: No misdemeanor or felony convictions for traffic/vehicular offenses (such as but not limited to DUI, vehicular homicide, reckless driving, hit and run, etc.) that are less than five (5) years old; no more than two (2) at fault or chargeable accidents that are less than five (5) years old; no more than two (2) traffic infractions (such as but not limited to speeding, failure to yield right of way, etc.) that are less than one year old.
