  • Duties

    • You will direct and work with other engineers and scientists in the analysis, design, development and application of ship defense scenarios for electronic warfare test and experimentation.
    • You will use the results of the at sea testing and other performance data to project utility of planned improvements in electronic warfare.
    • You will develop new scenarios for EW system analyses.
    • You will ensure that proposed EW systems will operate at the desired effectiveness level.
    • You will ensure the successful execution of complicated multi-national at sea EW testing.

    • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

    Qualifications

    This position has a Selective Placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The Selective Placement factor is:This position requires demonstrated experience with US and allied nations' ship defense systems capabilities and performance and knowledge of military operations related to ship defense techniques, tactics, and procedures for Air and Missile Defense (AMD) and ballistic missile defense (BMD).

    In addition to the Selective Placement Factor and Basic Education requirements, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at the (GS-5-10) grade level or pay band (NP-02) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Knowledge of ship electronic warfare systems and ship combat systems; 2) Demonstrated skill at organizing, leading, and executing a large multi-national maritime exercise at sea which include electronic warfare and live-fire test objectives; 3) Skill in the techniques, tactics, and procedures used to operate ship combat systems for air and missile defense (AMD) and ballistic missile defense (BMD); 4) Ability to apply the concepts of electronic warfare and radar systems and their application for use within the fleet; AND 5) Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

    Education

    Successful completion of an Operations Research degree; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.

    The following may be substituted in lieu of the above specialized experience:

    Successful completion of 3 full years (54 hours) of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

    OR

    A combination of education and experience totaling 100%.
