    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • The position is for a period of up to three (3) years, with the potential for extension considered on a yearly basis thereafter, and subject to continued funding.
    • Manages the Rigging crew located in South Dakota, including setting work objectives, assigning work, and coordinating crew efforts. Controls or contributes to all personnel actions for the crew including hiring, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
    • In collaboration with the LBNF-DUNE leaders and minimal supervision, lead the Rigging crew (mix of staff and subcontractor personnel) in various projects related to the operation, inspection, maintenance and installation of underground particle detectors and related equipment, as directed, for scientific detector equipment and cryogenic systems.
    • Lead collaboration efforts for rigging projects, construction and installation of detector equipment and cryogenic system elements, and other projects that include Rigging elements or other needs that may fall within the movement and deconstruction of materials for transportation to underground facilities.
    • Collaborate with various departments to ensure efficient communication, such as between day and night construction and installation crews and all other teams involved in projects and/or daily operations.
    • Develops and optimizes Rigging processes and procedures required to transport materials and finished goods in compliance with federal, state, local, and DOE regulations governing the transportation of materials and finished goods.
    • Oversees Rigging sub-contracts and FRA rigging staff for material handling underground.
    • Schedules, controls, and manages rigging activities and staff on rotating shifts and working hours in conjunction with the Installation Team.
    • Reviews and maintains all documentation and supporting calculations of duties, tariffs, price conversions, weight, and volume of products. Ensures all documentation is up to date and recorded in appropriate systems.
    • Verifies all payment transactions are completed according to requirements.
    • Maintain equipment and materials on-hand to support installation operations, ensuring equipment and supplies are stocked with a sufficient quantity to meet the on-going needs of the production.
    • Direct/perform quarterly equipment inspections in accordance with Fermilab policy and procedures.
    • Ensure all Rigging documentation, preventative and reactive maintenance routines, and any information related to the safety of the project is current and formally recorded. Train team and evaluate team members on rigging equipment inspections and proper documentation.
    • Develop the team's knowledge of all Rigging equipment specific to the production related to the safe operation and maintenance of mechanized and manual Rigging equipment.
    • Adhere to, and promote, all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as they pertain to the safe operation of all elements related to the rigging operations; participate in all required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training.
    • Able to respond to operational and emergency requirements. May be required to work and respond to emergency call-ins.
    • Contribute to a safe and positive working environment at all times by adhering to DOE safety practices and requirements, values, policies and regulations pertaining to safety using equipment and established working methods.
    • Complete other job-related duties as assigned.
    • Verification of the right to work in the United States, as demonstrated by completion of the Form I-9 upon hire and the submission of acceptable documentation (as noted on the Form I-9) verifying one's identity and work authorization

    QUALIFICATIONS AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • At least five years of previous experience as an Industrial or Construction Rigger on a large-scale project or in a similar environment.
    • Rigging certification
    • Fork lift operator
    • NCCCO general crane operator license and overhead crane certification
    • ASME physical and medical certifications
    • Ability to obtain OSHA 30 course completion card Mechanical aptitude is desired such as, fabrication, chain hoists, counterweight systems, etc.
    • General construction knowledge Formal fall protection training AutoCAD (decipher and read blueprints)
    • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook);
    • Fluent in English, both written and spoken;
    • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate
    • Availability to work varied shifts, including overnights, weekends and holidays
    • High school diploma or GED completion
    • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including, but not limited to: climbing, crouching, kneeling, standing and lifting up to 50lbs periodically
