The Operations Research Analyst uses statistical analysis skills to enable the delivery of improved operational, clinical or business results. Is responsible for assisting the Executive Director and Directors of Operational Excellence in achieving identified performance improvement initiatives. Is responsible for gathering, manipulating, analyzing and managing statistical data to assist in the identification of operational opportunities that will have a positive impact on patient flow and/or the bottom line through reduction in cost or increase in revenue. Has a good understanding of process improvement tools and methodologies as well as good communication, analytical, quantitative, problem solving and presentation skills to assist in the identification and implementation of process improvement initiatives. Serves as an expert in collecting data in the right amount and frequency, using key analysis techniques effectively, normalizing data so comparisons are meaningful, assessing common underlying causes, and constructing data effectively on dashboards. Performs other duties as needed.
Master's Degree in Engineering, Business, Mathematics, Finance or related field required. Minimum two years of experience in data analysis, performance improvement, business, developing analytical solutions or related field required, preferably in a healthcare environment. Valid Driver's license required at time of hire.
Advanced skills in using one or more data analysis software packages (e.g. MS Excel, SAS, Minitab, etc.). Proven ability to provide functional direction and insights based on the interpretation of data. Knowledge of data warehouse and data mart concepts. Knowledge in using mathematical models in operations analysis. Knowledge in management of large amounts of various types of data, such as patient flow data, outcomes data, problem/exception data, and process data. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision.
