Summary:

The Freight Operations Manager will oversee and and optimize the transportation of goods and materials within the company. This role involves coordinating with various teams, managing logistics, and ensuring the efficient movement of freight from origin to destination. The Freight Operations Manager is responsible for streamlining processes, minimizing costs, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.

Requirements

• Coordinate and oversee the transportation of goods, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effective methods.
• Collaborate with carriers, freight forwarders, and logistics partners to optimize transportation routes.
• Lead and manage a team of logistics coordinators, freight specialists, and other relevant staff.
• Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure team members perform effectively.
• Develop and implement efficient freight and logistics processes to improve overall operational effectiveness.
• Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to streamline workflows.
• Establish and maintain relationships with carriers, freight brokers, and other service providers.
• Negotiate contracts, rates, and terms with vendors to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality service.
• Stay informed about transportation regulations and compliance standards.
• Ensure that all freight operations adhere to legal and safety requirements.
• Monitor and control transportation costs, identifying opportunities for cost reduction.
• Analyze financial data and prepare budgets related to freight operations.
• Collaborate with customer service teams to address and resolve issues related to freight transportation.
• Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by ensuring on-time deliveries and effective communication.
• Utilize data analytics tools to analyze transportation performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Prepare regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) for management review.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Experience in freight operations, logistics, or a related role.

• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment

• Strong understanding of transportation management systems and logistics software.

• Excellent leadership and team management skills.

• Effective communication and negotiation abilities.

• Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and compliance standards.

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is plus

Physical demands:

• Sit or stand for long periods of time

• Work indoors and outdoors

• Work in various weather conditions

• Use of office equipment

• Operate equipment such as forklift, company vehicle, electrical/manual pallet jack

• Ability to lift up to 50lbs as needed

• Some push/pull/lift/carry as needed

• Willingness to work flexible hours as needed
