Energy/ Facilities Operating Systems Manager
POSITION PURPOSE Energy/ Facilities Operating Systems Manager oversees Dedham Public Schools and Town of Dedham Municipal Buildings Energy Management Systems and initiatives, proper planning, implementation, and supervising of timely and appropriate capital improvement and maintenance of all School and Town buildings in the context of promoting efficiency and longevity of these community assets.

Assists with managing and coordinating utility services to all buildings, including identifying opportunities for and promoting energy management, cost containment, and usage reduction strategies.
Provide expertise in the area of building control systems. This includes programming, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and operating these systems. These systems generally control heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
Troubleshoot and repair electronic/pneumatic control systems of all mechanical systems, including air handling units, fan coil units, rooftop units, boilers, chillers, pumping systems, variable air volume units, heat recovery ventilation units, exhaust systems, air compressors, and others.
Responsible for continuously monitoring all BMS systems to ensure all buildings operate correctly and efficiently.
Act as inside consultant for issues for projects relating to mechanical systems, electrical systems, and interactions between building systems.
Survey existing conditions, identify building system needs/capabilities, act as Facilities Department liaison with MEP engineering firms to generate design options, perform design calculations, specify appropriate equipment, develop work scopes, solicit bids, manage installations, and commission building systems for renovation and new construction projects.
Coordinate efforts closely with the department director to reduce energy consumption and operating costs, increase maintenance success/efficiencies, and maximize yield from the annual budget.
Generate estimates for bidding or budgeting purposes.
Direct outside consultants and contractors on small and large projects.
Collaborate with HVAC Technician(s) for mechanical repair instruction.
Develop preventative maintenance procedures and programs.
Perform design document review services and represent the Facilities Department in the areas of building systems during design and construction meetings.

The position shall oversee the operations, accounting/user management, implementation of industry best practices, and make recommendations for capital budgeting.

This role requires collaboration with the Dedham Public Schools Information Technology Department.
