Oncology Services Director plans and directs all aspects of an organization's oncology services policies, standards, and programs. Responsible for strategic clinical relationships with physicians and interns. Being an Oncology Services Director ensures oncology clinical programs are in compliance with all applicable regulations. Researches and studies current medical publications and data on new treatments and practices to ensure high quality clinical service offerings. Additionally, Oncology Services Director advises non-medical management on clinical and patient related matters and policies. Requires a MD. Typically reports to top management. The Oncology Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Oncology Services Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     We are looking for an experienced LPN to support our Gynecology Oncology team. Nurses working at Compass are an important part of the interdisciplinary team that supports the extraordinary care provided to our patients. This individual will help guide our patients through their cancer care journey. Utilizing the nursing process, the nurse addresses the acute and chronic needs of the patient with a cancer diagnosis answering clinical questions and gathering information for our providers to inform care delivery decisions.

    Employment Type: Full-Time, 40 Hours M-F

    Location: Rose Quarter Cancer Center (Portland, Oregon)

    Salary Range: $23.82-$38.73 Per Hour

    Job Scope: U nder general supervision, provides general nursing care for patients following established standards and practices. Promotes efficient patient flow, assists with patient care. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
    Responsibilities:
    • Provides general nursing care to patients.
    • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
    • Assists with the preparation of equipment and aids physician during examination and procedures.
    • Observes, records, and reports patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.
    • Administers prescribed medications as directed.
    • Screens patients for appropriate information. Instructs patients in collection of specimen samples for testing.
    • Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls.
    • Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
    • Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
    • Performs EKG and oxymetry readings as required by physician.
    • Obtains blood specimens from peripheral sites as needed and in accordance with OSHA and universal precautions.
    • Phones in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as required or directed by physicians.
    • Maintains patient files, records and other information.
    • Initiate IV fluids and IV therapeutic medications in accordance with LPN/LVN state nurse practice act.
    Qualifications:
    Education:
    • High school graduate or equivalent.
    • Graduate from an accredited school for practical nursing.
    • Current LPN state license and registration with the State Board of Practical Nursing in practicing state.
    • Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.

    Experience/Training: This position requires at least (3) years of experience as a practical nurse.
