PCBA Failure Analyst Technician
Location: Lenexa, KS
Reports to:  Quality Manager

About the role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) Failure Analyst Technician to join our dynamic team. This role is critical in ensuring the reliability and functionality of our electronic products through effective troubleshooting and repair of printed circuit boards.

What you will do:

Failure Analysis

• Conduct thorough analysis of failed printed circuit boards to identify root causes of issues.
• Utilize a variety of diagnostic tools and equipment to assess electrical and mechanical failures.
• Document and report findings to engineering and production teams for continuous improvement.

Troubleshooting

• Utilize schematics, layouts, and technical documentation to troubleshoot and diagnose PCBA related problems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve issues affecting PCBA performance.
• Implement effective solutions to ensure PCBA functionality meets quality standards.

Repair and Rework

• Perform skilled soldering and rework on electronic components, ensuring adherence to industry standards.
• Replace defective components and repair damaged traces on PCBAs.
• Validate and test repaired PCBs to ensure proper functionality.

Quality Assurance

• Assist in implement and maintain rigorous quality control processes for PCB assemblies.
• Assist in develop and update test procedures to identify potential issues during the manufacturing process.
• Assist in working closely with production teams to address quality concerns and improve overall manufacturing processes.

Collaboration and Communication

• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to provide feedback on PCBA design for improved reliability.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and other stakeholders regarding ongoing projects and issue resolution.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings to contribute insights and solutions.

Work Environment

• First shift; 7-3:30
• 40-hour work week with overtime occasionally
• Relaxed, casual work environment (t-shirt, jeans and headphones are the standard)

What you will need:

• Bachelor’s, Associates, Trade School degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field preferred; experience demonstrating successful execution of role is acceptable.
• Proven experience in PCBA failure analysis and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, layouts, and technical documentation.
• Strong soldering and rework skills.
• Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in PCB assembly and testing.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.

• Experience with diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
• Familiarity with automated testing tools and methodologies.
• Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and standards.
• Certifications in electronics or related fields preferred.
• IPC 610 certification preferred.
