Off-the-Road Tire Technician jobs in Vermont

Off-the-Road Tire Technician performs tire and tire-related services for OTR (and smaller) tires at the customer's location, job site, or any other location according to customer requirements. Mounts, demounts, balances and repairs OTR or other tires and wheels as directed. Being an Off-the-Road Tire Technician organizes the work site, the vehicles and the appropriate tools and equipment for optimum job efficiency and safety. Follows established procedures to inspect tires, wheels and vehicles before and after service, and notes other needed services; makes recommendations to customer. Additionally, Off-the-Road Tire Technician typically requires an associate degree or equivalent, and appropriate TIA/MSHA certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Off-the-Road Tire Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Pete’s currently operates 22 full-service locations in New England, a state-of-the art Distribution Center, 3 Bandag retread facilities, employs in excess of 300 people, and operates a fleet of over 100 service and delivery vehicles. Today, approximately 90% of our business is in the commercial truck tire and related markets. Pete's services everything from a wheelbarrow tire up to an earthmover tire.

    Qualifications:

    • Driver's License & clean driving record required
    • DOT Medical card required
    • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
    • Commercial Driver's License preferred
    • Automotive roadside experience preferred

    Requirements:

    • Responsible for changing primarily commercial tires, loader and farm, but may change passenger, light truck, loader, farm, ATV and/or lawn and garden
    • Perform tire repairs, replacements, and general service to tires and wheels
    • Remove or replace mounted tire assembly from vehicles
    • Ability to recognize repairable tires and properly perform repair and discard tires that are not repairable
    • Communicate all work performed via legible writing on tags, work orders and/or invoices
    • Perform all tasks in a safe and efficient manner
    • Use all provided safety equipment such as gloves, jack stands, wheel chocks, air cages, safety glasses and communicate equipment needs
    • Report all tools or equipment that need repair or that are broken and report all unsafe actions, problems or abnormal situations to the store manager or safety manager
    • Perform daily maintenance of tools and equipment
    • Review service work orders for complete information such as required customer information, repairs, mounts, new tires, valves before giving to the store manager
    • Ensure that all products leave with proper paperwork
    • As needed, perform miscellaneous job duties to ensure prompt services to our customer
    • Willing to make customer satisfaction a number one priority, must be flexible and understand that job priorities will constantly change due to customer needs
    • Equipment: Capable of operating lift gates, service tools, air compressors, hydraulic jacks, air guns, air gauges, mounting and balancing machines, and computer and office equipment

    Physical Demands:

    Exerts 75 to 125 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 75 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Frequently reaches (extending hands and arms in any direction), handles (seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or working with hands), and identifies and distinguishes colors. Occasionally climbs (ascends or descends ladders, stairs, ramps, and the like), balances. Occasionally stoops (bending the body downward and forward by bending at the waist, legs and spine), and kneels (bending the legs at knee to come to rest on knee or knees).
