Off-the-Road Tire Technician jobs in Kansas
Off-the-Road Tire Technician performs tire and tire-related services for OTR (and smaller) tires at the customer's location, job site, or any other location according to customer requirements. Mounts, demounts, balances and repairs OTR or other tires and wheels as directed. Being an Off-the-Road Tire Technician organizes the work site, the vehicles and the appropriate tools and equipment for optimum job efficiency and safety. Follows established procedures to inspect tires, wheels and vehicles before and after service, and notes other needed services; makes recommendations to customer. Additionally, Off-the-Road Tire Technician typically requires an associate degree or equivalent, and appropriate TIA/MSHA certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Off-the-Road Tire Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Job SummaryPerforms all automotive tire repairs, changes, balancing, rotations and TPMS procedures.Great growth and career opportunities.Responsibilities- Reviews repair order requests and makes visual inspection of vehicles to determine the extent of tire service requirements and materials needed
- Performs tire replacement or minor maintenance services
- Installs valve stem and tire-pressure monitoring system (TPMS) as required. Mounts tire on wheel assembly and inflates tires as required
- Test tire balances to ensure proper weight placement
- Performs short road test to ensure proper installation
- Reviews service with customer
- Complies with Company Quality Control Program, Company Safety Policy, OSHA and EPA regulations
Desired Qualifications- High school graduate, comparable vocational training or 6 months of tire technician experience
- Must have knowledge of non-technical tire and auto service processes and procedures. Knowledge of systems software pertaining to automotive servicing
- Preferred Experience:
- Familiarity with tire and lube requirements and specifications
- Knowledge of Mitchell Repair and All-Data
- Knowledge of tire requirements to include use of wheel balancers, tire specifications, Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems and some drivability diagnostic experience
- Certifications:
- SEMA certification preferred
- Prefer TIA Automotive Tire Service (ATS) 200. Level 300 or 400 level a plus
