Occupational Therapy Director directs the programs and staff of the occupational therapy department. Sets and implements guidelines for occupational therapy programs. Being an Occupational Therapy Director monitors patient progress and treatment plans. May require an advanced degree. Additionally, Occupational Therapy Director typically reports to top management. The Occupational Therapy Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. DESCRIPTION
Program Directors are responsible for leveraging their expertise to develop, maintain and deliver education services to students through:
Creating and Maintaining core curriculum across the institution
Communicating and monitoring delivery of core curriculum
Preparing course plans and material
Delivering courses
Monitoring progress/attendance
Advising students
Recording grades and submitting reports
• Clinical practice as an occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant.
• Administrative experience including, but not limited to, program planning and implementation, personnel management, evaluation, and budgeting.
• Scholarship (e.g., scholarship of application, scholarship of teaching and learning).
• Understanding of and experience with occupational therapy assistants.
• At least 2 years of experience in a full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the postsecondary level.
Minimum of 3 years clinical practice in the field of OT as an occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant.
