Occupational Therapy Director directs the programs and staff of the occupational therapy department. Sets and implements guidelines for occupational therapy programs. Being an Occupational Therapy Director monitors patient progress and treatment plans. May require an advanced degree. Additionally, Occupational Therapy Director typically reports to top management. The Occupational Therapy Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be an Occupational Therapy Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Responsibilities include but not limited to:

    • Planning, organizing, directing and evaluating the rehabilitation program, services and personnel. In a manner that supports the goals of the designated facility and Five Star Quality Care Inc.; while meeting federal and state regulations and state specific practice acts for Physical, Occupational and Speech Language Pathology.
    • The Director of Rehabilitation may also be responsible for direct patient care and delivery of therapy services in his/her discipline.

    Qualifications:

    • Graduate of an accredited college or university with Bachelors degree in Physical Therapy, or Occupational Therapy
    • Proven ability to lead a team of professional and paraprofessional staff members. Demonstrated skills to work in and foster a team environment.
    • Licensed in the state in which the therapist resides or practices, according to state requirements.
