A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST (OT)
In this position, you play an essential role in using occupational therapy procedures to help improve mobility for our patients. Working closely with the physician, you assist with evaluating the level of function, help develop the plan of care, prepare clinical notes, consult with the family and other agency personnel, and participate in in-service programs. You develop and revise the plan of care with the physician and other health care team members. You then execute that plan and provide therapeutic treatments. Attentive to detail, you closely evaluate equipment needs to ensure we are providing the optimal care to each patient.
You provide all services in accordance with the plan of care. Meticulously, you prepare clinical and progress notes. The safety of your patients is of the utmost importance to you, and you take great care to practice infection control by following universal precautions. You also actively recognize and report any forms of abuse according to policy as well as federal and state laws. Organized and efficient, you review the plan of care as often as needed, but at least every 60 days. You consistently evaluate the effectiveness of treatments and make plans for discharge as appropriate.
