Nutrition Director directs and oversees all aspects of an organization's or institution's nutrition guidelines and initiatives. Oversees institution of basic nutrition plans including individualized menu plans and monitors intake and acceptance of meals, snacks, and supplements. Being a Nutrition Director monitors and ensures proper nutrition education is provided. May oversee menu planning or food service operations. Additionally, Nutrition Director requires a bachelor's degree. Requires Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) from Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Typically reports to top management. The Nutrition Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Nutrition Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     TITLE: Director Food Management and Nutrition Services

    JOB OVERVIEW: Responsible for planning, organizing and directing food service department.

    AREA OF ASSIGNMENT: Dietary Services

    HOURS OF WORK: Full time hours vary to cover service needs. Typical hours are Monday Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., or as required to complete the job.

    RESPONSIBLE TO: Vice President Facilities

    PREREQUISITES:
    Bachelor's Degree in Food Service Management, Nutrition, Business Administration, or a closely related field, required.
    Minimum five (5) years' experience in food service management, to include three (3) years of personnel management experience.
    Budget management experience preferred.
    Healthcare experience preferred.
    3. Knowledge of and experience with personal computers.
    4. Strong ability to prioritize tasks and delegate duties.
    5. Demonstrated leadership competence with recent experience in a leadership role.
    6. Detail orientated, plus committed to continuous improvement.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Knowledge of budgeting concepts and the ability to work with a budget plan.
    Knowledge rules and regulations related to health and safety in food preparation.
    Knowledge of practices, methods and procedures of large-scale food preparation and serving.

    Assures high level of patient and customer satisfaction.
    Monitor department productivity and make staffing adjustments as necessary.
    Completes performance evaluations for managers and dietetic assistants.
    Plans and directs the food service budget.
    Prepares all local and state reports as required.
    Implements strategies to create an atmosphere that will attract and retain customers.
    Adheres to company policies and state and federal regulation in reference to cleanliness and safety.
    Plans, implements, and maintains departmental policies.
    Performs other duties as assigned.
