Nutrition Director directs and oversees all aspects of an organization's or institution's nutrition guidelines and initiatives. Oversees institution of basic nutrition plans including individualized menu plans and monitors intake and acceptance of meals, snacks, and supplements. Being a Nutrition Director monitors and ensures proper nutrition education is provided. May oversee menu planning or food service operations. Additionally, Nutrition Director requires a bachelor's degree. Requires Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) from Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Typically reports to top management. The Nutrition Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Nutrition Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Provides clinical expertise and care related to nutritional support in an outpatient setting.
     
    Job Responsibilities
    • Conducts presentations to groups of all sizes regarding nutrition education and cooking classes.
    • Offers general and complex health management resources , nutrition education and support and meal planning for nutrition patients and groups. Distributes education literature to patients.
    • Responsible for community programming and education regarding nutrition, weight management and healthy eating.
    • Manages and facilitates the weight management program for adults.
    • Provides nutrition education, support and training for patients and healthcare providers on the theories, principles, and practices of general and specialized nutritional support using the nutrition care process.
    • Represents Healthpark in community and throughout the organization as nutrition expert.
    • Writes articles for local newspapers, speaks to groups, and regularly speaks with media on topics related to food and nutrition.
    • Applies nutrition care process, a systematic approach to providing high quality nutrition care.
    • Develops and distributes nutrition education material to patients, employees, and the community.
    • Researches and applies trending nutrition science and applications.
    • Works collaboratively with multi-disciplinary team to manage care of patients.
    • Trains and acts as a mentor for dietetic interns.
    • Coordinates and facilitates children's weight management programing.
    • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nutrition educational programs for patients, providers and members and the community.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in Food Service Management required upon hire OR
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in Nutrition required upon hire OR
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in related field required upon hire
    • A combination of education, training and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
    • No experience required
    • Dietitian - Licensed Dietitian in the state of Kentucky required within 120 days of employment in this position AND
    • Heartsaver CPR AED required within 90 days of employment in this position AND
    • First-aid certification required within 90 days of employment in this position
