Nutrition Director directs and oversees all aspects of an organization's or institution's nutrition guidelines and initiatives. Oversees institution of basic nutrition plans including individualized menu plans and monitors intake and acceptance of meals, snacks, and supplements. Being a Nutrition Director monitors and ensures proper nutrition education is provided. May oversee menu planning or food service operations. Additionally, Nutrition Director requires a bachelor's degree. Requires Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) from Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Typically reports to top management. The Nutrition Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Nutrition Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Position Overview:

    The Nutrition Site Support is responsible for ensuring coverage and coordinating the Home Delivered Meals and Senior Dining Programs at our dining sites.


    Duties and Responsibilities
    :

    • Provide coverage at our dining sites and coordinate delivery of the Meals on Wheels Program.
    • Coordinate meal preparation, services and clean up for Senior Dining Program
    • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers for packing, food preparation, services, and meal delivery.
    • Responsible for safe food handling and procedures.
    • Maintain sanitary work conditions.
    • Responsible for collection and deposit of consumer donations according to Elder Services procedures.
    • Identify the needs of participants and provide referral to other community agencies if needed.
    • Fill in as a driver for uncovered meals on wheels routes.
    • Assist in the office when needed with ordering meals and running reports as well as office admin tasks.
    • Reconcile monthly variance between ordered and delivered meals.
    • Maintain records as required by Elder Services.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Skills and Abilities:

    • Ability to collaborate, take initiative, provide/ receive feedback.
    • Excellent computer skills required.
    • Ability to work independently and professionally.
    • Ability to communicate and work with the elderly and community resources serving the elderly population.
    • Valid MA driver’s license and car required


    Education, Licensure and Experience:

    • High school graduate
    • Food handling experience preferred, but not required.


    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
    • Travle throughout the service area including the islands.
