Position Summary
This individual is a member of the health care team working under the direct supervision of the Clinical Director or designee and performs reception, registration, and secretarial functions in support of the daily operations of the unit while functioning as the focal communication source in the unit. Work situations are varied and require strong interpersonal skills for the purpose of supporting care delivery and services to patients from diverse ethnic and social groups, organization, prioritization, attention to detail, good judgment, and independence. Independent decision-making is expected in the execution of daily routine duties. Decisions regarding patient care or services require the review and approval of the Registered Nurse.
Minimum Requirements
One of the following is also required: 1) Completion of an approved Unit Secretary vocational training course or 2) Previous Patient Care experience (minimum of 1 year or currently enrolled in clinical education program) or 3) Equivalent clerical experience (minimum of 1 year) in a medical setting.
