Current WA State Certified Nursing Assistant Licensure WA State MA-R Licensure required within 60 days from date of hire into the position Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLSPreferred Qualifications:
Completion of a formal Certified Nursing Assistant program One (1) year of experience in a patient care setting One (1) year of secretarial experience Bi-lingual or multi-lingual skillsDuties include, but are not limited to, the following:
As a Unit Secretary/Certified Nursing Assistant you will perform a variety of tasks to assist professional nursing personnel in providing patient care in an assigned area and related to the clerical and receptionist activities; serve as the focal communication source in the nursing station and perform related duties as assigned. Assist professional nursing staff with daily care of patients by performing basic technical and non-technical tasks under direction and supervision. Provide a.m. to p.m. care; e.g., bathing patient, peri-care, personal care; makes bed, changes gown Adhere to department procedures and standards Measure and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, and blood pressure), height and weight Measure and records fluid and food intake and output Document information following department procedure Prepare patients for meals, assists in feeding patients, if necessary. Distribute water and other nourishments according to the patients' needs. Prepare room and bed for receiving patient, assuring a clean and safe environment Continue to observe patient's environment to ensure safety and comfort. Perform treatment procedures such as surgical skin preparations and application of ice packs and heat following department procedure and standards Communicate effectively with patients, families and staff demonstrating a positive and caring attitude; demonstrates sensitivity to patient's emotional, social and mental health needs Recognize and reports abnormal signs and symptoms of common diseases and conditions Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served on the department/unit as outlined in established procedures. Adhere to standard policies as outlined in the unit related to infection control, fire and safety, hazardous chemicals, personnel policies and departmental procedures and standards. Respond within 60 minutes when called into work after being placed on-call Receive physician orders as outlined by Kadlec Regional Medical Center and department policy Transcribe physician orders, follows through with appropriate action; schedules procedures; orders medications, laboratory tests, respiratory treatments, and dietary nourishment with detail and accuracy Receive and delivers to appropriate personnel a variety of documents, messages, medications, specimens, and medical equipment as requested by physicians, nursing staff or Medical Center procedure Answer the telephone and utilizes the Medical Center communications and telephone systems appropriately Enter data into the computer; operates computers and other office equipment with efficiency Assist in orienting new personnel and physicians to departmental policies and procedures Monitor patient and chart location when patient is not in the assigned unit Order supplies and maintains par level of stock Maintain chart-correct order, filing, etc Enter department specific patient charges Assist in room and bed preparation, assuring rooms are ready when receiving new patients Maintain the cleanliness of the Medical Center as well as the assigned nursing unit Utilize appropriate isolation cleaning technique following Medical Center isolation procedures Maintain assigned equipment and recommends for repair when needed Participate in unit and house-wide quality improvement activities in order to improve patient care and comply with regulatory groups such as Leapfrog and Core Measures Adhere to standard policies as outlined in department related to infection control, fire and safety, hazardous chemicals, personnel policies and departmental procedures Demonstrate annually the skills required for unit Perform glucose checks Perform (or may perform) finger or heel sticksAbout Providence
