Who We Are:
Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 15,500 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. The District has one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9 – 12th grade campuses. The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

What We Need:
The Assistant Secretary is directly responsible to the building principal.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform clerical, secretarial and record-keeping functions necessary for the effective functioning of the office and school which include principal, assistant principal, nurse and all special itinerants.
Receptionist:
- Welcome and assist parents, new students, teachers and visitors to the building;
- Answer telephone calls and take messages and distribute appropriately;
- Distribute mail, bulletins, reports, etc.
Clerical Office Duties:
- Type letters, reports and forms;
- Operate computer, copiers, intercom and all other office machines;
- File records and keep files in order.
Miscellaneous:
- Assist and/or aid in health center in event of an emergency;
- Participate in opportunities for self-improvement;
- Hold all confidential information in a state of trust at all times maintain professional cordial relationship with staff, students, parents and the general public;
- Perform other job related duties for which he/she has been trained, as assigned by the principal and/or assistant principal.
Qualifications:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent;
- Minimum typing speed of 45 wpm and the ability to pass the secretarial skills test;
- Ability to do record keeping;
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with the public;

Terms of Employment: Ten months
Compensation: Class I / 10 Months
