Being a Nursing Unit Secretary performs administrative activities in compliance with all regulations. Requires a high school diploma. Receive scheduling requests by telephone or fax from physician offices and providers to schedule medical procedures in Surgical Services departments. Responsibilities include answering phones, working with physicians in scheduling patients for surgery, entering charges for surgeries, assisting with call tree development and performing basic secretarial functions. Additional responsibilities included but not limited to maintaining the OR computer systems with the assistance of the information technology department. Other duties assigned as necessary.
Minimum Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent, basic knowledge of medical terminology and human A&P, and experience preferred. Associates Degree or equivalent from two-year college (or equivalent combination of education and experience) preferred.
