The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Nursing is seeking a Nurse Manager to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of the Department Director.
Position Specific Summary
Provide managerial and clinical leadership for the Neuropsychiatry Inpatient Unit (2JPW). Candidates will ensure that all staff provide safe clinical care and have the education, methods and resources to accomplish their performance objectives.
2JPW is a 19-bed adult unit that provides care for patient with general psychiatric conditions, with a particular emphasis on thought disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar, and other psychotic disorders. 2JPW also provides specialized services for adult patients with an intellectual disability and co-occurring mental illness (IDMI) who display challenging behaviors. The interdisciplinary treatment team includes physicians, psychologists, advanced practice providers, master-level therapists, nurses, social workers, dieticians, occupational and recreational therapists, behavioral health consultants, and a cadre of specialists who collaborate with the treatment team to support the IDMI population.
Positions in this job family usually have limited involvement in direct patient care and focus their efforts in planning, organizing, directing, evaluating, and improving health care operations, clinical education programs and research programs of clinical and health service departments.
