Nursing Supervisor - Nursing Home jobs in Gary, IN

Under the general supervision of the Nurse manager and /or the Director Surgical Services, the Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the Preadmitting, Same Day Surgery and PACU. The supervisor assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the day-to day schedule, supplies/equipment needs and staffing levels in order to provide quality patient care. Communicates with and functions as liaison between staff, physicians, management, nursing, and all ancillary departments for the coordination of services.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Combination of education and experience which equates to:

• Level of knowledge equivalent to that ordinarily acquired through completion of a baccalaureate degree, preferred in nursing; a Master’s level degree is desirable.
• Two to three years of progressively more responsible experience in order to:  a) acquire an in–depth knowledge of the scientific principles of nursing; b)  acquire a thorough knowledge of policies and procedures; c) acquire a working knowledge of the legal aspects of patient care; and d) develop suitable analytical, managerial and supervisor skills. Experience in Critical Care setting is required.
• Current licensure to practice professional nursing in the State of Indiana.
• Maintains current CPR certification, ACLS and PALS.
