ASSTISTANT DIRECTOR OF NURSING - NURSING HOME

  • The Director of Nurses is accountable and responsible, under the direct supervision of the Administrator, for the overall coordination and direction of all nursing activities to achieve quality resident care. Director of Nurses attends daily stand-up meeting with all department heads and weekly quality assurance meeting with the medical director and interdisciplinary team. The DON shall implement the nursing process in an organized, systematic manner to include assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation as evidenced by documentation in resident's care record, direct observation, and resident assessment. Manages staffing grid and working schedule on a daily basis to ensure that staffing meets the need of the resident's level of acuity and state and Federal regulations. Employs organizational strategies in a balanced approach that produces meaningful contributions to each element of the Formula for Success. Requires the promotion of and adherence to the organization's established Compliance Program and Standards of Conduct. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the residents, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Performance Expectations:

    • Provides critical thinking skills in long-term care setting.
    • Ability to plan, organizes, and lead various nursing functions.
    • Understanding of policy and preocedures and ensures that these are followed in all aspects of resident care.
    • Ability to oversee large number of staff.
    • Ability to perform duties within the scope of practice and meet deadlines.

    Qualifications:

    Education/Skills

    High school diploma/GED required

    Graduate of a recognized non-online RN program required.

    Work Experience:

    Minimum of two years experience as a registered nurse is REQUIRED.

    Minimum of one year experience working in a nursing home as a registered nurse is preferred.

    Minimum of two years geriatric experience is preferred.

    Minimum 1 year in supervisory/leadership role preferred

    Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE

    • Licensed RN able to practice within the State of MS

    Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required time-frame below

    • Basic Life Support

    Within 30 Days of Employment

    Required

    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support

    Within 90 Days of Employment
