JOB SUMMARY : Working closely with the SBMC's Graduate Medical Education (GME) office and the Department of Surgery, attending physicians, residents, and students the Podiatric Surgery Residency Program / Student Clerkship Coordinator manages the Podiatric Surgery residency training program and the medical education programs for medical, physician assistant, graduate and high school students rotating in the Department of Surgery.
The person in this position also performs various administrative and clerical tasks to support the Manager of the Department of Surgery.
As the Residency Program Coordinator, the individual in this positon is responsible for the management of the Podiatric Surgery Residency Program, which consists of seven residents rotating at various sites.
In addition to the residents, there are also visiting medical students on elective rotations from podiatric medical schools across the country.
The individual provides administrative support to the Program Director and assists with the ongoing development of an administrative strategic plan to meet and anticipate the educational, financial, and well-being needs of Podiatric Surgery residents.
The individual will utilize in-depth knowledge to anticipate, organize, and support the activities of these medical educational programs.
The Student Clerkship Coordinator works with the Student Clerkship Director and the Department Chair and Manager to support the administrative efforts for the medical student clerkship and Mini-Med School programs.
EDUCATION : High school diploma or equivalent requiredREQUIREMENTS : The candidate must possess a high degree of initiative and independent judgment.
She / he must be able to perform multiple duties simultaneously with some degree of flexibility.Minimum of 1 year of residency program or student clerkship experience or 3-5 years of office administration experience, preferably in a healthcare and / or education setting.
