Nursing Director - Nursing Home administers the nursing program in a nursing home in order to maintain standards of patient care. Advises management, patient care staff and administrators in matters related to nursing service. Being a Nursing Director - Nursing Home recommends establishment or revision of policies and develops organizational structure and standards of performance. Interprets policies and objectives of nursing service to staff and community groups. Additionally, Nursing Director - Nursing Home typically requires an advanced degree of nursing. Typically reports to top management or a facility administrator. Requires RN license. The Nursing Director - Nursing Home typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Nursing Director - Nursing Home typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Responsibilities: 

     

    • Augment floor staffing if needed.
    • MDS, care planning, participation in Performance Improvement and Infection Control where indicated; subject to needs of facility.
    • Manage nursing staff through appropriate hiring, training, evaluation, assignment, and delegation of  duties, within budget and resident census guidelines.
    • Review and ensure proper resident charting and procedure documentation.
    • Develop and implement resident care plans in coordination with physician, medical director, nursing  staff, and outside consultants (i.e., therapists).
    • Ensure appropriate equipment, supplies, and resources are available to staff on a timely basis.
    • Ability to complete necessary assessments; have a good knowledge of infection control procedures.


    Requirements

    • Licensed Nurse in good standing with State Nursing Board.
    • Significant technical experience and demonstrated leadership/management skills
    • Geriatric nursing background.
    • Restorative care philosophy, excellent professional skill (both assessment and hands-on and good communication, and organization skills).
    • Working knowledge of nursing home regulations
