Nursing Director administers the nursing program in a hospital, nursing home, or other medical facility to maintain standards of patient care. Advises medical staff, department heads, and administrators in matters related to nursing service. Being a Nursing Director recommends establishment or revision of policies and develops organizational structure and standards of performance. Interprets policies and objectives of nursing service to staff and community groups. Additionally, Nursing Director requires an advanced degree of nursing. Typically reports to top management. Requires RN license. The Nursing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Nursing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • The Director of Nursing provides overall direction and leadership for the nursing team at our care center. They are responsible for and work with clinical nursing leaders to coordinate, implement, and evaluate the care and services delivered to our residents.

    Job Functions
    • Oversees the nursing team that provides care and services to residents.
    • Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates policies, procedures, and services for the nursing department.
    • Conducts department and facility-wide quality projects and attends QAPI meetings.
    • A member of the leadership team and attends various facility meetings.
    • Assists the scheduler with scheduling of the department.
    • Assists with hiring of personnel in the nursing department.
    • Assists clinical leaders with conducting employee reviews and evaluations.
    • Provides oversight to clinical leaders regarding the resident assessment process.
    • Administrative accountability and responsibility of charting and documentation of medication administration, treatment administration, and cares.
    • Maintain good communication with healthcare professional to ensure the highest clinical outcomes are achieved.
    • Understand and adhere to all resident rights and local/state/federal regulations.
    • Follow facility policies and ensure department follows them as well.
    • Collaborates on and participates with Emergency Preparedness.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications
    • Have a valid state RN license
    • Leadership experience is preferred
    • Experience in a long-term care setting preferred
    • Needs to be able to establish a good rapport with residents, families and employees
    • Must be proficient with computers and programs such as email, scheduling software, and electronic health record.
    • Must be able to pass a background check.
