Interprets policies and objectives of nursing service to staff and community groups. Additionally, Nursing Director requires an advanced degree of nursing. Typically reports to top management. Requires RN license. The Nursing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.     Heritage Park Nursing Center, a Generations Healthcare facility is in search of a Director of Nursing to join our team.

    Job Summary

    The primary purpose of this position is to plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of our Nursing Service Department for long term care while in compliance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and company’s regulations, and as may be directed by the Administrator and the Medical Director, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times

    Essential Duties (include but are not limited to):

    • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the nursing service department, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the nursing care facilities.
    • Develop, maintain, and periodically update written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the nursing service department.
    • Maintain a reference library of written nursing material (i.e., PDR’S, Regulations, Standards of Practice, etc.) that will assist the nursing service department in meeting the day-to-day needs of the resident.
    • Develop, maintain, and periodically update the Nursing Service Procedures Manual and nursing service objectives and philosophies.
    • Develop and implement a nursing service organization structure.
    • Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Administrator, as necessary/required, concerning the operation of the nursing service department.
    • Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as necessary or as may be directed.
    • Assist the Quality Assessment & Assurance Committee in developing and implementing appropriate plans of action to correct identified deficiencies.

    Qualifications:

    • 2-3 years of Nurse Management experience in a post-acute / skilled nursing facility, LTC or Hospital preferred.
    • Current active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of California.
    • Strong communication, excellent customer service, teamwork and organizational skills.
    • Proof of COVID-19 primary vaccine series is required for all facility employees, (requests for accommodation due to medical exemption or religious belief will be reviewed).
