Nursing Director administers the nursing program in a hospital, nursing home, or other medical facility to maintain standards of patient care. Advises medical staff, department heads, and administrators in matters related to nursing service. Being a Nursing Director recommends establishment or revision of policies and develops organizational structure and standards of performance. Interprets policies and objectives of nursing service to staff and community groups. Additionally, Nursing Director requires an advanced degree of nursing. Typically reports to top management. Requires RN license. The Nursing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Nursing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Applicant must have, but not be limited to the following:
A current State of California license as a Registered Nurse is required. BSN degree is required.
1-2 years experience as a Director Of Nursing Services or ADON in a skilled nursing facility or other related type of health facility is required.
Must have strong knowledge and understanding of state and federal regulations for long-term care.
Must have the ability to develop and update policies and procedures as needed for the nursing services department.
Must demonstrate a positive attitude, patience and tact. with residents based on their cognitive level of functioning, and with staff and family members at all times.
Post acute experience is preferred.
Must have excellent organizational skills and be detail-oriented.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a team player mentality.
Must be computer proficient and skilled to assess EMR charting.
EMR experience is required. Point Click Care experience preferred.
Must have the ability and experience to plan, lead, organize and direct the overall operations of the nursing department, is required.
Must assist the facility administrator in carrying out the highest degree of quality care for residents is required.
Coordinate with the Medical Director in the carrying out and monitoring any related medical procedures for the residents is required.
Handle the personnel functions of the department, which include scheduling duty hours and providing work assignments to nursing staff when needed.
Must participate with the medical directors in the monthly QAPI meetings and provide written reports as necessary, is required.
Must demonstrate strong team leadership, with emphases on excellent customer service, is required.
