Nursing Director administers the nursing program in a hospital, nursing home, or other medical facility to maintain standards of patient care. Advises medical staff, department heads, and administrators in matters related to nursing service. Being a Nursing Director recommends establishment or revision of policies and develops organizational structure and standards of performance. Interprets policies and objectives of nursing service to staff and community groups. Additionally, Nursing Director requires an advanced degree of nursing. Typically reports to top management. Requires RN license. The Nursing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Nursing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. We have been in San Francisco since 1901 and are led by the Little Sisters of the Poor, a Roman Catholic order of nuns which began in France in 1839. We are looking for a regular, full-time Director of Nursing who shares our passion for caring for the elderly.     Responsibilities include:

    • Director of Nursing will provide effective administration of nursing services. Assure residents of a comfortable, clean, therapeutic, and safe environment.
    • Director of Nursing will evaluate nursing service needs and determine staffing requirements.
    • Director of Nursing will help develop and implement patient care policies.
    • Director of Nursing will supervise maintenance of records of nursing and medical treatments performed by Nurses.

    Requirements include:

    • Current CA RN license and BS in Nursing
    • Minimum of one year of experience in nursing supervision within the last five years, preferably in geriatrics
    • Training in rehabilitation nursing
    • Able to organize, plan, and supervise a nursing department

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $149,760.00 per year
