Nursing Assistant assists nursing team with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort, and safety of patients. Assists patients in dressing, undressing, bathing, eating, walking, and other activities. Being a Nursing Assistant ensures patients' well-being and comfort. Changes bed linens and assists with patient transportation to tests and procedures. Additionally, Nursing Assistant may serve and collect food trays and provide patients with between-meal nourishment. May record temperature or vital signs under the direction of a nurse. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a registered nurse or supervisor. The Nursing Assistant works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Duties:
- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse
- Assist with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and feeding
- Take and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse
- Assist with patient mobility and transfers
- Medication reminders as directed by healthcare professionals
- Monitor patients for changes in condition and report any concerns to the Director or Administration
- Document patient information accurately and timely using electronic medical record systems (e.g., Axxess)
- Provide support to patients with special needs or behavioral health conditions
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a nursing assistant training program or equivalent experience
- Current certification as a nursing assistant (CNA) in the state of employment
- Experience working with geriatric patients
- Familiarity with durable medical equipment (DME) and its use is desired
