POSITION: Registered Nurse - Inpatient Care Unit (Non-Exempt)

Position Purpose
. The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and coordinating patient care, infant to mature elder, based on medical/surgical history and physiologic, psychological and cognitive data collection. The Registered Nurse is responsible for assisting with the achievement of patient outcomes through implementation of care plans and in accordance with the mission of the hospital. All services are provided in a professional manner and reflected through service excellence unrestricted by considerations of social or economic status, personal attributes or the nature of health problems. Relies on education and training to complete responsibilities within scope of licensure as a Registered Nurse. Adherence to policies of all regulatory bodies is expected. The Registered Nurse must meet competency skills checklist.
Performance Expectations
· Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing and systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychological and cognitive status, recognizing changes/problems and takes appropriate action timely
· Formulates a goal directed plan of care, which is prioritized and based on determined nursing diagnosis and patient outcomes to include physician orders and discharge planning to achieve expected patient outcomes
· Implements care in a knowledgeable, skilled consistent manner in reaching the desired patient outcomes through nursing processes to include reassessment and revision of plan of care when patient’s condition warrants
· Prioritizes patient care based on essential patient needs and available hospital resources of time, personnel, equipment and supplies
· Documents accurate and concise care of patient in patient medical record
In addition to above performance expectations, Registered Nurses caring for Center of Excellence Orthopedic Service Line patients will also be expected to follow established clinical pathways
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduation from an Accredited School of Nursing. Eight (8) hours of educational training related to Orthopedic Service Line annually to include Hip & Knee Replacement, Shoulder Surgery, and Spine Surgery
Licenses and/or Certification: Must have a current license to practice in the State of Louisiana, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification, BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
Experience: Must have two (2) years of experience in hospital setting
