Nurse Practitioner - Surgical works in collaboration with hospital physicians to manage care for patients in a surgical setting. Provides direct care and follow-up for patients in surgical care units. Being a Nurse Practitioner - Surgical orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physicians. Prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment. Additionally, Nurse Practitioner - Surgical requires a master's degree. Requires Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Responsibilities:
- Low patient ratio (1:4)
- Provide direct patient care in a medical/surgical setting
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician
- Monitor and document patient's condition and progress
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to provide comprehensive care
- Educate patients and their families on disease management and treatment options
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records
Experience:
-ICU experience a plus, not required
-Previous experience working in a hospital, nursing home, primary care, or medical office setting
- Knowledge of working with individuals with developmental disabilities
Requirements:
