Nurse Practitioner - Specialty Care works in collaboration with a physician to assess the physical needs of patient's medical type such as psychiatric, oncology or obstetrics. Orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physicians. Being a Nurse Practitioner - Specialty Care prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment. Requires a master's degree. Additionally, Nurse Practitioner - Specialty Care typically reports to a physician. Requires Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) in specialty area based on RN licensure and state authority for advanced practice. Nurse Practitioner - Specialty Care's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement. Registered Nurse (RN)- Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

  • This is a 0.75 FTE - Day/Night rotating. 12-hour shifts with every third weekend 12-hour shifts. Critical care experience preferred. Pediatric experience preferred. PALS, BLS required.

    Purpose of position

    This position exists to administer family-centered nursing care to patients, advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention, and/or provide skilled assistance in navigation of the health care system as appropriate to the developmental, cultural, emotional, and medical, surgical, or rehabilitative needs of the patient and their families. Specific duties are determined by the work setting or patient population served; however, in all positions, serving patients with challenging and complex conditions requires a concentration of specialized staff able to work in highly coordinated teams. We organize care around each patient’s condition which requires staff at multiple levels and across many departments to exhibit exceptional teamwork qualities including communicating efficiently and effectively and adopting the behaviors required for high functioning integrated teams.

    Compensation & Benefits Information

    The hourly wage for this opportunity is $37.93 - $64.78. Pay is dependent on several factors including number of hours worked within the field, education, and certification/licensure: $1.75weekend/ $2.75 evening/ $4.00 night differential is available for this position. A sign-on bonus is available for those who qualify. Hourly pay is just one part of the compensation package for employees.     Qualifications

    Required

    • Documentation of completion of professional nursing program (RN program)
    • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license through the MN Board of Nursing
    • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. If candidate holds valid CPR for through another acceptable organization (as determined by Gillette), candidate may be able to begin employment but must complete Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association within one month of employment.
    • Current American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification. PALS must be obtained by the end of orientation or max of 3 months of hire.
    • Must be interested in working with people with short term or long-term disabilities that begin in childhood.
    • Physically able to work hours required and meet physical demands of the position. In certain departments, this will include being part of the off-premises call schedule.

    Preferred

    • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or other healthcare related field
    • Prior nursing experience in a health-related setting
    • Nursing Specialty Certification relevant to the position

    • Ability to provide specialized care for critically ill/injured infants, children, and adolescents.
    • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment while providing exceptional care.
