Nurse Practitioner - Specialty Care works in collaboration with a physician to assess the physical needs of patient's medical type such as psychiatric, oncology or obstetrics. Orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physicians. Being a Nurse Practitioner - Specialty Care prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment. Requires a master's degree. Additionally, Nurse Practitioner - Specialty Care typically reports to a physician. Requires Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) in specialty area based on RN licensure and state authority for advanced practice. Nurse Practitioner - Specialty Care's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement. - Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- NP License in Indiana or ability to obtain Indiana License.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Computer literacy with ability to learn new computer program quickly.
- GI Medical office experience preferred.
- Eligible for hospital privileges.
What You Will Be Doing:- Sees patients in the clinic, hospital, or urgent care setting.
- Consults with physician as needed for optimum patient care.
- Develops and implements treatment plans.
- Orders diagnostic tests.
- Orders and interprets diagnostic tests relative to the patient’s needs.
- Prescribes appropriate medications and treatments.
- Collaborates with physicians and other nurse practitioners on patient care.
- Regular attendance is an essential part of this job.
