Nurse Practitioner - Psychiatric works in collaboration with physicians to manage care for patients in a psychiatric setting. Orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physicians. Being a Nurse Practitioner - Psychiatric prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment. Provides primary care to psychiatry and at-risk patients. Additionally, Nurse Practitioner - Psychiatric requires a master's degree. Requires Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Nurse Practitioner - Psychiatric's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Qualifications/Education Requirements
To qualify for this position, the candidate must hold a Family Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner-Board Certification (PMHNP-BC) and hold a master’s degree in nursing from an accredited nurse practitioner program. In addition, this position requires the candidate to hold a current Mississippi license as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, current DEA privileges, and must be eligible to obtain medical malpractice insurance under the Federal Tort Claims Act. Qualifying candidates must also have two years of practicing experience with persons with co-occurring health/mental illness with HIV/AIDS management preferred. Candidates must be eligible for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs.
