Nurse Practitioner - Oncology works in collaboration with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to manage care for patients in an oncology setting. Provides quality care in all settings for cancer patients, families and staff. Being a Nurse Practitioner - Oncology orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physicians. Prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment. Additionally, Nurse Practitioner - Oncology assesses patient condition and may provide treatment using specialized medical equipment. Requires a master's degree. Requires Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.     Key Performance Areas:

    • Safely and accurately mix and administer chemotherapeutic agents to patients as ordered by Company physicians. Will use ONS standards and guidelines. Accurate and safe disposal of biohazardous waste, per OSHA and HRS guidelines.

    • Responsible for ongoing patient assessment.

    • Documentation: Thorough and accurate documentation in OncoEMR of treatment rendered to patients. Ensure appropriate charges are captured by following guidelines for the appropriate administration of all medications.

    • Will follow the Company's I.D. policy and procedure with every patient encounter. Teaching: Act as moderator/instructor for chemotherapy classes as needed. Educate patients and (when appropriate), family about medications, side effects, and planned treatment course. Interact with patients and families in a caring, professional manner.

    • Telephone triage: Includes prioritizing incoming calls and messages from patients, family members, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies, and physician offices from emergent to non-urgent. Must respond accordingly in an appropriate time frame.

    • Supplies: Includes assisting with inventory and re-stocking medical supplies, when called upon. Recommend purchase of new items as needed. Place stock in storage areas in a timely manner.

    • Nucleus: Have working knowledge of dispensing medications via Nucleus. Able to perform cycle count. Restock medications within the appropriate time frame. Enters all appropriate patient charges into Nucleus.

    • Meetings: Attend annual Safety / OSHA training meetings. Attend all mandatory staff meetings as necessary.

    • Maintain and ensure the confidentiality of all patient and employee information at all times.

    • Assist in training new employees to related job duties.

    • Will be expected to work at any Company location to help meet the Company's business needs.

    • Complies with all federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy, patient's rights, personnel law, safety, labor, and employment law. Adheres to Company and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and procedures and Disaster Plan.

    Required Experience/Qualifications:

    • Registered Nurse, licensed in the State of employment, with experience in IV therapy.

    • Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital is required.

    • The ability to assess patient needs and conditions is essential. Must have strong critical thinking skills, as well as the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

    • Current CPR & BLS certifications are required.

    • Fluency in the English language with excellent oral and written communication skills is required.

    • Valid Driver's license, in state of residency, for travel to clinics.
