As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will: • The LPN contributes to the nursing assessment by collecting data through direct observation, interviews with the client or client’s family and significant others, and review of the client’s medical record and environment. • The RN is responsible for the initial or focused assessment. The LPN may perform subsequent assessments and reports data to RN. • Continuous data collection and implementation of nursing care. •Implements elements of patient plan of care within scope of LPN practice, including but not limited to: • Purposeful hourly rounding • ADLs, mobility, skin care, • Administration of medications and treatments • Administration of infusion therapy consistent with COMAR 10.27.20 • Reports to other members of the health care team in a timely, accurate and complete manner on data collected from the client, client’s family and / or significant others. • Documents data in the patient record in a timely, accurate and complete manner. • Recognizes the rights of clients and provides a safe and therapeutic environment • Implements RN developed teaching plans • Delegation of tasks to certified nursing assistants within their scope of practice. When delegating the LPN shall instruct, direct and regularly evaluate the performance of nursing tasks. Discontinue any delegated task if performance is not done competently.
