Nurse Practitioner - Ambulatory Care jobs in Lowell, MA

Nurse Practitioner - Ambulatory Care works in collaboration with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to manage care for patients in an ambulatory care setting. Orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physicians. Being a Nurse Practitioner - Ambulatory Care prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment. Assesses patient condition and may provide treatment using specialized medical equipment. Additionally, Nurse Practitioner - Ambulatory Care works in outpatient settings, responding to high patient volumes in short-term spans and dealing with unpredictable situations and issues. Follows established guidelines and protocols. Requires a master's degree. Requires Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Nurse Practitioner - Ambulatory Care's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     Job Summary

    As an Ambulatory Care nurse, you will be part of a team advocating for the patient and family while adhering to the medical plan of care. You will be working in an outpatient setting where responsibilities include examinations, recording medical history, ordering diagnostic tests, conducting blood draws, dressing wounds, educating on chronic diseases, and administering medications. You’ll collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to provide a high level of patient care.

    You must have a detailed understanding of nursing ethics and professional practice standards, relevant state regulations, and standard outpatient care policies. You’ll be expected to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care. You must also possess excellent communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.     Qualifications

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited nursing program

    • A minimum of one year of experience working in an outpatient care facility preferred

    Licensure and Certifications

    • Registered Nurse Licensure within the state of practice

    • Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification
