Position Overview
The Nurse Practitioner for the Geriatric Unit, is an advanced practice RN working in collaboration with a physician(s) to deliver comprehensive health care to adult patients. Assumes other duties as assigned.
Education
Master’s Degree in Nursing. Mississippi State Licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
Certification
Nurse Practitioner Certification. BLS Certification.
Experience
Minimum of two years experience as RN in an acute care hospital. Previous experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred.
Mental Demands
Keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making skills in the management of acute and chronically ill patients. Communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone. Emotional stability conducive to dealing with a high stress level associated with care of patients/family, fast paced physical activity, rapidly changing patient conditions, emotional demands of patients and their families, and demands of maintaining effective working relationships with peers, managers, physicians, and other health care workers.
Physical Demands
