Job Summary
The Oncology Nurse Navigator Coordinator assists the Director, overseeing day to day coordination of patient care including financial planning as needed, survivorship plans and the provision of clinical practice and administrative support in accordance with department philosophies and objectives, established policies and procedures, physician orders and standards of care. As the patient navigator he/she will function on the multidisciplinary team as an advocate, interpreter, educator, and counselor for oncology patients assuring quality and comprehensive services throughout the continuum of care. She/he will serve as a clinical resource and liaison with expertise in hematology/oncology care management for both the staff and community. He/ She will provide expert nursing care, which includes direct clinical practice, consultation, education and research.
Job Requirements
a. Minimum Education Requirement: Incumbent must be a graduate from a school of nursing. BSN and ONS certification are preferred.
b. Minimum Experience Requirement: Three to Five years of recent Oncology clinical experience. Knowledge of personnel practices and demonstrated ability in the supervision of staff normally acquired through previous supervisory experience. Effective interpersonal communication skills in order to provide leadership to employees and maintain cooperative working relationships with physicians.
c. Minimum License Requirement: Current West Virginia State Nursing License, which is renewed on a yearly basis. Must possess current BLS certification, which is renewed every two years. Oncology certification within one year of employment.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
Medium Work: Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. with a maximum lifting of 50 lbs.
