Nurse Manager - Phone Triage manages the day-to-day operation of a nurse triage call center and implements established policies, procedures, and service models. Uses performance and quality standards to achieve and maintain required care delivery levels. Being a Nurse Manager - Phone Triage monitors operations with call data analysis to identify trends, measure productivity, and respond to increases in demand for services. Conducts recruitment and selection activities to maintain optimum levels of nursing staff. Additionally, Nurse Manager - Phone Triage ensures compliance with nursing staff standards for competencies, assessments, licensure, certifications, and other annual training. Responds to escalated problems and may provide patient care evaluations and recommend responses. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Nurse Manager - Phone Triage manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Nurse Manager - Phone Triage typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Requirements

    Education: 

    High school diploma or equivalent and relevant nursing education commensurate with applicable nursing license requirements.


    Required Licensure/Certification: 

    Current Florida Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing.


    Other Requirements:

    1. Current CPR certificate.

    Experience: Minimum 3 years of clinical experience. Pediatric direct patient care and/or phone triage experience strongly preferred.


    Knowledge:

    1. Knowledge of clinical and theoretical nursing/clinical processes and principles. Familiar with state and federal laws related to health care.
    2. Basic computer operations and EMR (Athena experience)
    3. Knowledge of medical practice protocols related to scheduling appointments.
    4. Knowledge of customer service principles and techniques.

    Skills:

    1. Excellent telephone etiquette and customer service skills
    2. Excellent interpersonal skills, including friendliness, empathy, patience, kindness, politeness and helpfulness. 
    3. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    4. Skill in communicating and working with all staff and leadership collaboratively.
    5. Skill in documentation of patient care including reviewing for accuracy and completeness.

    Abilities:

    1. Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a strong sense of focus and attention to clinical accuracy.
    2. Ability to communicate calmly and clearly with patients and families in all circumstances including when they are ill or have an emergency.
    3. Ability to analyze situations and respond appropriately.
    4. Strong attention to detail.

    Work Environment: Combination of medical and administrative office settings. Possible exposure to communicable diseases (including COVID-19), biohazards, and other conditions common in clinical settings.


    Mental/Physical Requirements: Variety of walking, standing, sitting, bending, twisting, and reaching. Occasional need to lift/carry/move up to 25 pounds of equipment. Management of high-paced patient flow and related stressors.
