Nuclear Medicine Technologist prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals for use in both diagnostic studies and therapeutic treatments. Creates and enhances diagnostic images using a variety of imaging equipment and tools. Being a Nuclear Medicine Technologist collects biologic specimens and prepares data for interpretation by physicians. Follows radiation safety guidelines and documents radiopharmaceutical usage for regulatory compliance. Additionally, Nuclear Medicine Technologist may require a bachelor's degree in a related area. Typically requires certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and a state license to practice. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine is looking for a qualified, motivated individual to join the division as a pulmonary function testing (PFT) technician.
This individual’s primary responsibilities would be performing diagnostic pulmonary function tests (PFTs), preparing test reports for analysis and interpretation, and setting-up, calibrating and maintaining PFT equipment. Additional responsibilities may include:
This individual will be interacting directly with patients, some of whom are physically challenged. Patience and good people skills are critical. Prior experience performing PFTs is not required but will be viewed favorably.
