Nuclear Medicine Technologist jobs in Maryland

Nuclear Medicine Technologist prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals for use in both diagnostic studies and therapeutic treatments. Creates and enhances diagnostic images using a variety of imaging equipment and tools. Being a Nuclear Medicine Technologist collects biologic specimens and prepares data for interpretation by physicians. Follows radiation safety guidelines and documents radiopharmaceutical usage for regulatory compliance. Additionally, Nuclear Medicine Technologist may require a bachelor's degree in a related area. Typically requires certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and a state license to practice. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.     I. JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

    Under general supervision, performs imaging and dynamic function studies in order to aid physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses.

    Education Successful completion of an accredited program in Nuclear Medicine Technology.

    Experience

    Skills

    * Exhibits interpersonal and verbal communication skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients and families, who may be under physical and/or emotional stress.

    * Ability to process diagnostic images through computer manipulation and technique.

    Licenses

    * Maryland State licensure, Accreditation by the ARRT and or NMTCB

    * Maintain "Healthcare Provider" CPR course

    Physical Requirements

    * Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

    * Ability to lift and position patients for up to 30% of work time and to stand and walk for up to 80% of work time.

    Working Conditions

    * Routine exposure to radioactive materials with little chance of injury when Regulatory Commission and

    * COMAR policies are followed.
