Nuclear Medicine Technician jobs in New York

Nuclear Medicine Technician provides diagnostic aid to physicians by conducting organ or body scans on patients. Administers and records isotope dosages in accordance with established departmental protocol. Being a Nuclear Medicine Technician observes patients during procedures and reports any abnormal activity. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Nuclear Medicine Technician typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. Requires registration with the Nuclear Medicine Technology certification Board, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T.), or the American Society of Clinical Pathology.     Job Summary:

    Operates nuclear SPECT camera/computer systems to produce scans of specific anatomical areas and organs for evaluation by trained physicians.

    Responsibilities:

    • Perform all procedures and exams handled by the Nuclear Medicine Department
    • Administration of radio-pharmaceutical preparations
    • Maintain records for receipt, storage, use, and disposal of radioactive materials
    • Position and transfer patients, providing immobilization devices as necessary

    Requirements:

    • High School Diploma or Equivalency required
    • Satisfaction of formal nuclear technologist training in an approved school
    • ARRT Certification
    • NYS Radiation License
    • 1-3 years experience as Nuclear Medicine Technologist
    • Successful completion of formal training of at least 3 months in an approved nuclear medicine department
