The Enterprise Technology Group at Physicians Mutual is looking to hire a full time Sr. Data Test Engineer.  This role will drive direction of the development & maintenance of a framework that emphasizes flexibility, usability and reduced maintenance. The incumbent will analyze, test, and build tools to meet the data quality validation needs for the applications. A QA mindset in being able to create test cases for verifying the data scenarios that meets the business needs is an absolute must. Creates and maintains test scripts for new and existing test cases; executes, debugs & maintains automated tests, and validate the results; clearly documents problems found during testing; documents test results and communicate to management; stores scripts and other deliverable in the testing repository; installs and configures test systems. Incumbent will be estimating work effort and determine delivery schedules.  Creates and maintains test plans and strategies. Manual testing may be expected depending on the stage of development.  Creation of test cases, test data and test procedures to facilitate a quality implementation. Expected to raise concerns through escalation channels when needed.  Coordinates of test activities in a team environment to drive towards a successful project delivery and meet agreed upon milestones.

Requirements:

• MS in Computer Science or related field plus 4 years prior professional work experience……..OR………BS in Computer Science or related discipline.  
• 6 years prior professional work experience in software development with strong SQL fundamentals.
• Experience working in relational databases (DB2, Oracle, or SQL Server).
• Working knowledge on SQL and Python.
• Understanding of Data Models, Data Schema, ETL and experience creating extensive store procedures, SQL queries to perform back-end data warehousing testing.
• Understanding of the testing discipline as it applies to the agile and waterfall software development methodologies
• Improving data quality, reliability & efficiency of the individual components & the complete system.
• Experience in understanding Source Target Mapping.
• Ability to create and execute strategies and test cases for applications that use ETL components.
• Data warehouse / Data Mart testing experience is required
• Good understanding of Object-Oriented Programing concepts.
• Work with other members of Data Test Engineering to compile a regression test suite that can be executed quickly.
• Experience using SQL for data validation and defect resolution
• Use risk-driven techniques to develop, maintain, and execute automated and manual test suites.
• Work with the Development team to capture and reuse automated, Test Stubs and Drivers, and other Development test objects
• Creation of test project status reports and metrics (e.g., Test Dashboard)
• Provide accurate and precise estimates for assigned task duration, along with confidence levels and foreseeable dependencies
• Preparing test plans, and schedules
• Develop and maintain good professional working relationships, especially within the test team and with those who interact regularly with the test team
• Exhibit a demeanor of professional pessimism; i.e., in a pleasant and non-confrontational fashion work with determination to find, document, and advocate the repair of bugs
• Show initiative in setting and meeting goals within an environment of managed change
• Effectively communicate testing activities and findings in oral and written formats
• Understand the role of testing within the software development lifecycle and business-related project constraints, and effectively advocate for the best possible customer experience of product quality within those parameters
